I've been busy making cakes and crafting so figured it was time to show this off. ^_^

First off, the cake I made for my mom's 60th birthday.

Cake time )

Next up, decided to try my hand at wreath making.

Too Early for Easter? )

Also, for those curious, I've started my own craft blog. Sweet Tooth Trinkets I should be adding more to it soon.

This fic ended up a lot longer than intended.  It just grew a mind of it's own.

Title: The Escape Attempts of Jack Frost
Rating: G
Summary: Jack is sick and he knows that he should stay in bed. However, he can't resist attempting to get outside. Too bad the other guardians don't agree with him on the idea.
Author's Note: Big thanks to Icka for helping with beta read this.
Jack grinned as he found the door to the storeroom )

Happy Hearts Day everybody!

Uploaded with

Found Mickey and Minnie this year, they're classic and you can't go wrong with that. XD

Stu and I don't have too much planned today. We might go out to dinner later, although I did make some Valentine cheesecake cupcakes to give to family. I don't normally do much for Valentine's Day, but I figured it was a good excuse to bake. ^_^

I found out about this yesterday and I have to spread the word of this. William Joyce, the creator of The Rise of the Guardians/Guardians of Childhood is running a kick starter to help his studio fund a video game. What's the game about? The Golem of Prague.

This looks TOTALLY awesome. I've always loved the story of the Golem of Prague. The kickstarter for it is HERE for those who are interested. ^_~

Watching random video from youtube, when I happen to stumble across a clip of Bratz of the Lost Nebula.

Never heard of it? Wouldn't be surprised, it only last for 13 episodes and from what I read it was cancelled in the US after the third episode, but the rest aired in Canada.

Basically i's a sci-fi show and t was about a group of orphans who battle against The Shock that destroy other planets as they try to find their families. Looking back, it was a really good and fun show and I really enjoyed it. The puppets were made by the Jim Henson creature shop. It might seem a bit dated now, but still it help give the series a fun look to it.

It's been awhile since I've done a proper post, January ended up being busies than I expected.

First off did some ROTG fanart on Jack Frost.

Funny story for this, I was looking up Valentine's Day on wiki because I was feeling bored when I stumbled upon this bit of info:
In Norfolk, a character called ‘Jack’ Valentine knocks on the rear door of houses leaving sweets and presents for children. Although he was leaving treats, many children were scared of this mystical person.

Course, I HAD to draw Jack Frost as a "Jack Valentine." How could I not? Stu got me a tablet for Christmas, and this was the first drawing I properly used it both for colour and digital inking. I know I need more practice, but he turned out really cute.

Also, this summer I'm going to try selling some of my felt crafts and clay jewelery locally. I was telling one of my co-workers how I tried to sell some crafts on esty, but I didn't sell a lot because there's A LOT of stiff competition. She then suggested to me about selling my crafts locally, and told me about how her and some of my co-workers sell their crafts at a craft event held by the the ovarian cancer society every summer.

The crafters buy a table and the money goes to the charity, but the crafters get to keep the profits they sell from their crafts. The main point of the even is to raise awareness. I have thought about selling my stuff at cons, but wasn't sure how much I would enjoy it. However, I figured this would be a good experience for me and it's for a good cause. Worse case, if I don't sell anything I will have some Christmas gifts ready for next year.

Thankfully, it's not until the summer so I got plenty of time to work away and make some stuff before then to sell.

It took us awhile, but Stu and I finally finished watching Steins;Gate and it was awesome. It's definitely one of the better anime, next to Hyouka, I've seen lately and I highly recommended it.

Here's a breif summary without going into spoiler territory:

Rintaro Okabe, a self proclaimed mad scientist, discovered that the combo gadget of his microwave and his cellphone is in fact a time machine that can send text messages into the past.

That's honestly as far as I can go without spoilering some of the plot later and honestly, it's worth the experience to not know what's going to happen next.

At a first glance, with the number of female characters, one might mistake this show for being a harem anime with time travel involved, and it's easy to make that claim since it's based off a visual novel with different endings/pairings. However, it is way more than that.

The first eleven episodes are slow because the gang are mainly just experimenting with the time machine and it almost feels close to a slice of life anime. However, episode twelve is a wham episode where everything changes it starts to reveal the consequences of the characters actions from the first half. It's similar to that of Princess Tutu, the first eleven or so episodes are used to established the characters and the story so that when it gets to the meat of the story you care about what actually happens to them and what they're put through. And the ending is very fitting, but also up beat to the series.

And trust me, these guys really do earn they're happy ending. Therse are a great cast of characters in this show and I lost count of how many times I've felt my heart strings being pulled as the story went on.

Overall, it's a good sci fi series with a good mix of humor, drama and with a side romance plot that feels natural and doesn't overtake the story.

I would highly recommended the dub. I know there are fans that probably stand by the Japanese version because Okabe's "Engrish" is hilarious, but they did a fantastic job with the dub. Also, like Ghost in the Shell, I find the story is a lot easier to follow in the dub than the Japanese version. Plus, you can tell the staff had fun translating this. Just take a lot at this clip.

Happy New Year everyone! My New Year's Eve wasn't too eventually, watched movies with Stu and Jon, but it was still fun. Also, the annual Royal Canadian Air Farce special aired and it had some good skits this year.

I think my favorite though would be this bonus skit they posted on youtube.

And my new year resolutions:

1. Finish steampunk novel
2. Lose ten pounds
3. Work on brain storm for other stories
4. Go to NYC and drag Megs and Isa along with the ride. XD

And here's another ROTG drabble. Big shock I'm sure. One of my New Year Resolutions is to read the Guardians of Childhood novel. Might even make reviews of them as I go.

Anyway, here's another drabble, for New Years.

Title: New Family, New Memories
Series: Rise of the Guardians
Rating: G
Summary: It's New Years Eve, and Jack takes the group out skating.

It was late and every single star twinkled in the sky and the moon was bright and full )

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! My Christmas is being lazy but good.

My family and I'm laughing at the pile of books I got, including my own copy of The Last Unicorn and the artbook of Wreck It Ralph. My mom also got me a copy of both Kung Fu Panda movies, which I have wanted but didn't bother to buy for a long while.

Stu's big present to me is a tablet for my laptop. Should be fun for me to work with.

Tomorrow we'll be going to Stu's family place and open presents with them so that will be fun too.

To end things off, have a cute picture of Toothless that's been going around on tumblr.

I saw this and just hard to share the stupidness of this.

This is the latest poster for the "Oz: The Great and Powerful" movie and it's the Wicked Witch of The West.

.....Am I the only one bothered that they felt the need to give her a lower cut to her dress so it shows her cleavage? I mean, seriously what was wrong with her original dress? @_@ (And yeah, I think you could argue it was copy righted by MGM, but they could have done a dress design that still had a freaking collar.)

And this isn't just "Taking vantage of a woman's body" issue, it just doesn't really look that good with the rest of the outfit, especially her hat!

Five Things meme: You post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section.(examples: "5 things L'Arachel can't stand", or "5 Times Daria actually agreed with Quinn"). Then, I'll answer them, d'uh. Serious or fun! You can post this offer in your own journal, if the mood takes you.

Many of you have probably noticed how much I've been fangirling over Rise of the Guardians. Yes, it's not a 100 percent movie, but it's an awesome movie and it has such potential for a lot of great sequels and future stories.

However, it's not doing so great in the box office (because the distributors were dumb enough to release it the same weekend Twilight was coming out and what is apparently the lowest number people go to the movies. *grumble*). Why is this important? Because, even if it does sell well on DVD and itunes, if they don't do well in the box office it's unlikely Dreamworks will make more in the franchise. (Megamind is sadly a good example of this happening.)

So, if you're able go see and tag a few people along that think you'll enjoy it with you. This movie needs as much support as it can get. I hate to see this franchise end before it even had a chance to start. (Plus, instead of getting more movies like this, Dreamworks will keep making cheap silly movies like Madagascar 3 because they'll think those are the only things that sell.)

With that said, people should totally check out Rufftoon's DA gallery She's worked on the movie and has been making some great comics based off it.

Yeah, I wrote another drabble and I invited a character for this, but technically it's not a original character. The witch Befana and she actually is a story from Italy. If you google "La Befana" you can get more details, but basically on the eve of Janurary 5th it's said she rides her broom stick and delivers presents to good children. Sound familiar? She's basically a female witch version of Santa and I've always love this story and I think she would fit perfectly in the Rise of the Guardian universe.

So, yeah, I invented a Rise of the Guardian version for her and in my head she's has a "close" relationship with North. XD

Title: The Witch of the Season
Series: The Rise of the Guardians
Rating: PG
Characters: Jack Frost, North, and Bunny.
Summary: The guardians are asked to help at North’s shop the last month before Christmas and Jack ends up meeting a “friend” of North’s.
Note: I blame [ profile] dqbunny for the "sweetie" reference. XD

Jack grumbled as he climbed to the top shelf in the closet. )

Had to get a fic out of my system since I saw Rise of the Guardians.

Title: Teachings
Fandom: Rise of the Guardians
Rating: G
Characters: Jack Frost, Jamie
Summary: A grown up Jamie decides to tell his young daughter about Jack Frost.

Daddy! Daddy! Jamie yawned and sipped his coffee )

Saw Rise of the Guardians last night with Stu and it was as awesome as I hoped it would be.

I've seen people just calling it "Avengers for kids" and it's a pretty accurate description. Yeah, the story is simple, but it was fun to watch The Easter Bunny, Santa, Tooth Fairy, Sandman and Jack Frost all interact with each other.

Also, I love the design of the different worlds for each character. William Joyce (the writer of the Guardians of Childhood books and a major producer on this movie) wanted to try to answer every single question a kid would have about these characters? How does the Bunny make all the eggs, how does Santa go around the world in one night, etc.

I also thought the mythology of the world and would love to see it more explored in future films. Granted, not sure if they would just reuse Pitch or try to create another villain, but not sure what the next villain would be. With that said, makes me wonder if other characters would pop up. Like Cupid for Valentine's day, maybe father time, mother nature, etc

My only complaint is that I would like to see more female guardians, but the writers had to play on classic childhood characters and most of them due tend to be guys. (I had thought a female cupid would be awesome. Another badass girl character with arrows that could join Merida and Katniss in movies. XP)

Anyway, I would say this movie is just as good as Wreck-it Ralph, but I honestly can't say one is better than the other. It would be like comparing apples and oranges really. All in all, it's a movie worth seeing, I think the fantastic animation/designs make it worth it alone.

I also have a theory on Jack Frost.

Jack Frost spoiler ahead )

Just found this out and had to share. It's the best combination ever, Neil Patrick Harris and Jim Henson puppets! No, I'm not making this up.

I just saw two awesome movies in less than 24 hours. I finally sat down last night to watch Summer Wars, and Stu and I came back from seeing Wreck-it Ralph.

Summer Wars and Wreck-it Ralph )

Not sure how many of you guys watch Red vs Blue, but every once in a while they do funny PSA videos (and a lot tend to be rather crack) and this video was about voting.

I don't live in the states, but I figured my US friends would get would a laugh out of this.
